Maria Ramis

Felanitx, 1961

Graduated in Ceramics from the Escola d'Arts i Oficis in Palma de Mallorca (1983), Maria Ramis has been directing the Taller Escola de Ceràmica Call Vermell in her hometown, Felanitx, since 1986.

With over twenty years of artistic experience, she has held numerous solo exhibitions in Mallorca, Menorca, Barcelona, and Zaragoza, and has participated in more than 25 group exhibitions. Her work has been recognized with several awards and distinctions, and she holds the title of master artisan.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with renowned artists, such as painter Andreu Maimó, with whom she created life-size fig tree trunks for an exhibition at the Museu de Mallorca. She also designed ceramic pieces for scenographic projects, such as the dance performance Terra Roja by dancer Lupe Obrador, with music by Joan Valent.

Her work is characterized by organic shapes and matte glazes in earthy tones, with an aesthetic inspired by Mediterranean prehistory, especially that of the Balearic Islands, as well as by the sea and surrounding nature. Her artistic and decorative ceramics express a deep connection with Mediterranean culture and her natural environment.
